Dhaka, March 17 -- A court on Monday sent the husband of a Jahangirnagar University student to jail in connection with her killing in Savar and fixed March 24 for the hearing on a five-day remand plea.

Dhaka Senior Judicial Magistrate Ayesha Siddika passed the order after a hearing, said SI Biswajit Debnath of the prosecution wing of Dhaka District Police.

The accused, Fahim Al Hasan, 22, was produced before the court with a request for a five-day remand.

Officer-in-Charge Rubel Howlader of Ashulia Police Station said the remand hearing could not take place as the investigation officer was not present in court. The court later fixed March 24 for the hearing.
