Meherpur, Oct. 15 -- A female student of Jahangirnagar University (JU) was killed after being hit by a speeding truck in Meherpur Sadar upazila on Wednesday morning.

The deceased was identified as Omi Khatun, wife of schoolteacher Rahinul Islam of Ramdaspur village under the upazila.

Mezbah Uddin, officer-in-charge of Meherpur Sadar Police Station, said Omi was returning home from her father-in-law's house with her husband on a motorbike when a truck hit the bike from behind in Fatipur village, leaving her dead on the spot and her husband critically injured.
