Dhaka, Aug. 24 -- Veteran journalist and former president of the Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ), the late Abdus Shahid, remained steadfast in his commitment to democracy and press freedom throughout his life, said speakers at a memorial meeting marking his fourth death anniversary.

The event, organised by DUJ, was held on Sunday morning at Tafazzal Hossain Manik Mia Hall of the National Press Club.

The meeting was chaired by DUJ President Md Shahidul Islam and moderated by DUJ General Secretary Khurshid Alam.

Speakers remembered Abdus Shahid as a fearless and principled journalist who consistently advocated for the rights of journalists and upheld ethical journalism.
