Cumilla, May 12 -- A local leader of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami was electrocuted in Chandina upazila of Cumilla on Tuesday morning.

The deceased was identified as Alamgir Miaji, son of Ali Miaji of Jorpuni village under Madhiya union in the upazila. He was the president of the Jorpuni unit of Jamaat.

According to locals, the incident occurred in the morning when Alamgir came in contact with a live electric wire while working in his farm.

Internet lineman electrocuted in Dhaka

Though locals rescued him, he died from the electrocution shortly afterwards.
