Dhaka, Oct. 30 -- Eight political parties, including Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Andolan Bangladesh, on Thursday submitted a memorandum to the Election Commission (EC), demanding a referendum in November and implementation of the July National Charter.

The parties held a short rally in front of Nirbanchan Bhaban in Agargaon and near the Metro Rail station where they set up a temporary stage on a truck.

Jamaat leaders addressed the gathering, emphasising the need for constitutional orders to implement the July National Charter and hold a referendum before the next parliamentary elections.
