, Aug. 11 -- The High Court on Monday issued a rule asking the government to explain as to why the authorities concerned of Delta Medical College and Hospital should not be asked to provide Tk 5 crore as compensation to the family of a 5-day old infant for breaking her hand from elbow.

The HC bench of Justice Fahmida Quader and Justice Sayed Jahed Mansur issued the rule after hearing a writ petition.

The HC also issued another rule asking the government to explain as to why punitive action should not be taken against those involved in the negligence of duty in ensuring treatment.
