Dhaka, March 30 -- The government on Monday announced a maximum reward of Tk 1 lakh for anyone providing verified information to local administration on illegal hoarding and smuggling of fuel, aiming to curb unlawful activities and ensure fair distribution.

The decision was taken by the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) amid the rising global fuel prices triggered by tension in the Middle East which have caused instability in the supply and market management of petroleum products, said a press release of Energy and Mineral Resources Division.
