Dhaka, Oct. 19 -- Former US diplomat Jon Danilowicz has backed Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's decision to seek the resignation of Ishraque Hossain following controversy over his actions during an anti-drug operation in Dhaka.

"Bangladesh PM Tarique made the right call in asking for the resignation of Ishraque Hossain after his insane stunt," Danilowicz said in a social media post.

He said the development is the latest sign that Prime Minister Tarique is serious about holding members of his government accountable for their actions.

"His leadership is critical in ensuring Bangladesh's future is different than its past," the former US diplomat added.
