Flash flood likely in low-lying areas of 5 districts: FFWC
, June 18 -- The Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC) has forecast flash flood in parts of Sylhet, Sunamganj, Netrokona, Mymensingh and Sherpur districts due to rising river water levels and possibility of heavy rainfall.
"These(Surma-Kushiyara) rivers may flow around the warning level in Sylhet and Sunamganj districts, and adjacent low-lying areas may be temporarily inundated at some locations," said a bulletin of FFWC.
During the last 24 hours, the water level of the Surma River in the north-eastern region of the country has increased, which may continue over the next three days, it said.
