, June 21 -- The Board of Governors of the Bangladesh Fisheries Research Institute (BFRI) has stressed the importance of making research programmes more innovative, action-oriented and responsive to emerging challenges facing the fisheries sector.

The observation came at the 46th meeting of the BFRI Board held at the conference room of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock with Fisheries and Livestock Minister Mohammed Aminur Rashid in the chair, who also serves as chairman of the BFRI Board of Governors.

State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salauddin Tuku, the board's co-chairman, attended the meeting along with lawmakers Lutfor Rahman Kajol, Md Anwarul Haque and Rofiqul Islam Hilali.
