Family demands safe return of Miraj Sheikh, 'first goom victim' of post-July Uprising
Dhaka, Aug. 24 -- Family members and human rights bodies on Monday demanded immediate steps for safe return of Miraj Sheikh, who has remained traceless for over four months after allegedly being picked up from Mongla in Bagerhat.
The demand was placed at a press conference jointly arranged by the victim family, the Human Rights Support Society (HRSS), and the Bangladesh Legal Aid and Services Trust (BLAST), at the National Press Club here.
Miraj Sheikh, a biker and fisherman, was allegedly picked up from Joymonighol, an area adjacent to the Sundarbans, in Mongla on April 10 last.
