, March 10 -- Mobile financial service Nagad is playing a key role in the government's newly launched Family Card programme, which aims to economically empower women heads of households and boost their confidence.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman inaugurated the programme on Tuesday morning at the Korail slum area. Under the pilot phase, a total of BDT 16.2 million has been disbursed through Nagad to 6,451 families across 13 districts.
The launch in a densely populated area like Korail has generated considerable enthusiasm among residents. Speaking at the ceremony, the Prime Minister said that distributing allowances via a direct digital system would prevent misappropriation and ensure the benefits reach genuinely underprivileged families....
