, Sept. 10 -- backed panel's Vice President (VP) candidate in the DUCSU election, Shadik Kayem, racked up an impressive 7,516 votes with voting tallies from five of the eight polling centres announced so far.

His closest rival, Chhatra Dal-supported panel Md Abidul Islam, got 3,653 votes.

Other candidates received: Umama Fatema 2,355 standing from an independent panel, and independent candidate Shamim Hossain has 2,409 votes.

The five polling centers were Curzon Hall, Physical Education Center, TSC, Geology Department Center, and University Laboratory School and College.
