Deputy speaker's 'dismay' over delayed placement of bills in JS, pressure to pass them quickly
Sangsad Bhaban, Sept. 3 -- Deputy Speaker Kayser Kamal on Thursday expressed dismay over delays in placing bills in Parliament following approval by the Cabinet, saying legislation should be sent to the legislature promptly so that all lawmakers get sufficient time to examine them.
"We are very much dismayed. After approval by the Cabinet, a bill should be sent to the legislature as quickly as possible so that all members can examine the law," he said.
The Deputy Speaker made the remarks during deliberations after Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed moved the Armed Police Battalions Bill, 2026 in Parliament and proposed sending it to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Home Affairs for scrutiny within two working days.
