Death toll from flood-related drowning climbs to six in Ctg
, July 10 -- Two children drowned in floodwaters in Banshkhali upazila of Chattogram on Friday, raising the death toll from drowning in different parts of the district to six over the past two days.
The latest deceased were identified as Mohammad Ashik, 8, and Mohammad Miraj, 6.
According to locals, the two children drowned while playing near their homes in Baharchhara union after being swept into water rushing from the hill following heavy rainfall, said Baharchhara Union Parishad Chairman Rezaul Karim Yunus.
Ashik, a resident of Madhyam Ilsha village, was rescued and taken to a private hospital in Gunagari, where doctors declared him dead.
