Dhaka, Sept. 23 -- A Dhaka court on Wednesday sent Obaidur Rahman, maternal uncle of Mariam Khatun, the second wife of Satkhira-4 MP Gazi Nazrul Islam, to jail in a case filed for allegedly abetting her suicide.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ariful Islam passed the order, said Sub-Inspector Rafiqul Islam of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Prosecution Division.

Earlier in the day, Obaidur was produced before the court following his arrest.

Inspector Mohammad Salauddin of the Detective Branch's Tejgaon zonal team sought an order to keep him in jail.

No bail petition was filed on behalf of Obaidur, Rafiqul said.
