Dhaka, Oct. 19 -- A youth from Chandina upazila of Cumilla has reportedly been killed in the Russia-Ukraine war, according to his family.

The deceased, Md Sagar, 24, was the son of Md Kabir Hossain of Chhaykot area under Chandina municipality. He was the youngest of two brothers and three sisters.

According to family locals, Sagar belonged to a low-income family and working at a rod and cement shop in Chandina upazila headquarters. In 2025, he went to Russia with the help of the shop's manager and later took a job at a bakery here.

While working there, he came into contact with a Bangladeshi broker who lured him with the promise of a one-time payment of Tk 30 lakh if he joined the Russian military.
