, July 1 -- A couple died from electrocution and another person was injured while catching fish in a pond in Kuchimora Uttarpara village of Sadar upazila in Pabna district on Tuesday evening.

The deceased were identified as Sabdul Pramanik, 35, and his wife, Asha Khatun, 25of the village.

Md Mujibur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge of Ataikula Police Station, said a live electric wire was passing over a pond beside their house and had been secured with a thin bamboo pole.

When the couple went into the pond to catch fish, the wire suddenly slipped from the bamboo support and fell into the water, electrocuting them on the spot.

Noticing the incident, other family members immediately switched off the main power supply.
