Dhaka, Oct. 25 -- The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase has recommended the procurement of five cargoes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from BP Singapore Pte Limited and an additional cargo from Qatar Energy Trading LLC to meet the country's energy demand.

The recommendations were made at the committee's 51st meeting of 2026 held on Saturday, where two proposals from the Energy and Mineral Resources Division were discussed.

Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury presided over the meeting.

Under the first proposal, the committee recommended purchasing five LNG cargoes from BP Singapore, with provision for additional cargoes if required and agreed upon by both parties.
