Sirajganj, June 25 -- A case has been filed against a college teacher in Sirajganj over the alleged attempted rape of a ninth-grade schoolgirl from the Mahato community in Raiganj upazila, police said.

The accused is Jahurul Islam Khokon, 42, said Raiganj Police Station OC Ahsanuzzaman.

OC Ahsanuzzaman said the accused had been providing private coaching to students at Expert KG School in the Nimgachi Bazar area of Raiganj for a long time while serving as a teacher at Bishmadanga Girls School and College in Tarash upazila.

The victim, a ninth-grade student from the Mahato community and a student of the same educational institution, regularly attended his coaching classes.
