Dhaka, Aug. 12 -- The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) on Wednesday approved proposals to import 100,000 tonnes of non-basmati parboiled rice from Vietnam, 25,000 tonnes of sugar, 2 crore litres of refined soybean oil and 10,000 tonnes of lentils.

The approval came at a meeting held at the Bangladesh Secretariat with Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury in the chair.

Under one of the approved proposals, Bangladesh will import 100,000 tonnes of non-basmati parboiled rice from Vietnam under a government-to-government (G2G) arrangement.
