Dhaka, Aug. 6 -- The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) on Thursday approved a proposal to import 35,000 tonnes of Muriate of Potash (MOP) fertiliser from Russia under a government-to-government agreement.

The approval came from a meeting, chaired by Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury.

It approved the proposal for importing the third lot of MOP fertiliser from Russia's state-owned JSC Foreign Economic Corporation (Prodintorg) under an agreement signed with the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC).

According to the proposal placed by the Ministry of Agriculture, the fertiliser will be imported with an estimated cost of Tk 168.29 crore.
