Dhaka, July 1 -- The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) on Wednesday approved two separate proposals for importing 2.7 lakh tonnes of wheat to strengthen the country's food grain stocks.

The recommendations were made at a meeting of the committee held with Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury in the chair, following proposals submitted by the Ministry of Food.

Under the first proposal, the committee recommended approving the purchase of 50,000 tonnes of wheat through an international open tender under Package-3 for the 2025-26 fiscal year.

The procurement will be implemented by the Directorate General of Food at a total cost of Tk 182.84 crore.
