Dhaka, Aug. 21 -- The Buriganga River came alive on Friday as traditional boat racing was held to mark the 416th anniversary of Dhaka, drawing large crowds to both banks of the river.

Organised by Dhaka South City Corporation, the event attracted people of all ages, including women, men, children and teenagers, who gathered along the riverbanks, nearby roads and other vantage points to enjoy the centuries-old tradition.
