, Sept. 16 -- Police have recovered the body of an unknown man on Tuesday in the Sonatila area of Gowainghat upazila in Sylhet.

The body of the man, around 50 years old, was found in the afternoon near the Sylhet-Tamabil highway.

According to sources of locals and police, residents spotted the body beside the highway in Sonatila and informed the police.

The police later recovered the body and sent it to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.

The identity of the man is unknown, and the cause of his death is not yet clear.

Maruf Al Mukit, Sub-Inspector of Gowainghat Police Station, confirmed the incident.

He said, "Efforts are ongoing to identify the person."
