Dhaka University, April 29 -- A student, allegedly affiliated with banned Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), was detained by the leaders of Jatiya Chhatra Shakti in the TSC area of Dhaka University on Tuesday evening and handed over to police.

The detainee was identified as Md Sakib, a student of the Department of Philosophy of the 2021-22 academic session and inmate of Bijoy Ekattor Hall.

According to sources, he had earlier been accused in two cases over attacks on protesters during the July uprising. He had also been expelled from the university for his alleged involvement in attacks on students on July 15, 2024.

Witnesses said leaders of Jatiya Chhatra Shakti spotted him in the TSC area in the evening and detained him.
