Bangladesh, Aug. 31 -- Amid rising tension on campus, the authorities of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) have announced the university's closure for an indefinite period.

The decision was taken at an emergency meeting of the university's syndicate on Sunday night.

Students have been instructed to vacate all residential halls by 9 am on Monday, according to a notice issued by the university administration.

The move comes in the wake of recent unrest and student protests surrounding academic demands and a reported attack on students by outsiders.
