Dhaka, June 16 -- Lt General Mohammad Asadullah Minhazul Alam of Bangladesh on Monday assumed his duties as Force Commander of the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP).

He was welcomed by top United Nations official in Cyprus, Khassim Diagne, and Force Chief of Staff, Brigadier Patrick Allen.

UNFICYP looks forward to Major General Alam's leadership in supporting peace and stability on the island.
