Dhaka, Nov. 7 -- The Ministry of Home Affairs has approved the renaming of five vessels of the Bangladesh Coast Guard following a formal proposal from the force.

According to a government notification signed by Senior Assistant Secretary Masfika Hossain on Thursday (Nov. 5), the decision was finalized with approval from the appropriate authority in response to a request sent by the Coast Guard headquarters on October 27.

The revised names are BCGS Odomyo Bangla (formerly BCGS Joy Bangla), BCGS Feroz Kabir (formerly BCGS Syed Nazrul), BCGS Nurul Islam (formerly BCGS Tajuddin), BCGS M Humayun Kabir (formerly BCGS Mansur Ali) and BCGS Ashraf Siddiqui (formerly BCGS Kamaruzzaman).
