Dhaka, Aug. 26 -- Bangladesh on Wednesday expressed solidarity with the government and the people of Nepal following devastating flash floods and mudslides that have caused deaths and destruction in the Himalayan country, saying it stands ready to assist the country in relief and rescue efforts.

"The people of Bangladesh are shocked and saddened by the sudden flash floods and mudslide in Nepal causing death and destruction," said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

"As we keep following the reports, there are hundreds missing, many of them feared to be dead including tourists," said the government of Bangladesh.

Bangladesh expressed deep condolences for the deceased. "We hope for early recovery and treatment of those missing."
