New York, Sept. 23 -- Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus on Monday conveyed the United States that Bangladesh is fully prepared for the next national election in the first half of February and the interim government is making "comprehensive preparations" to ensure a "free, fair, and peaceful" general election.

"The election will be held in February. It will be free, fair and peaceful. The country is fully prepared," Prof Yunus told US Special Envoy for South and Central Asia and the US Ambassador-designate to India Sergio Gor during a meeting.
