Dhaka, Oct. 2 -- Dhaka ranked fifth among the world's most polluted cities on Friday morning, with an Air Quality Index (AQI) score of 163 recorded at 9:25am.

The air quality was classified as 'unhealthy', indicating that the level of air pollution may pose health risks to the general population, according to the AQI scale.

Pakistan's Lahore topped the list with an AQI score of 236.

Bahrain's Manama and India's Kolkata ranked second and third, respectively, with AQI scores of 176 each.
