Dhaka, Feb. 11 -- BNP on Wednesday warned that any attempt to obstruct Thursday's elections or create any disorder would face mass resistance from people, stressing that a firm stance by the Election Commission (EC) is crucial to ensure a peaceful polling environment.

"Whoever tries to resist the election or create chaos, we will not need to do anything-the people themselves will resist them. Even if we attempt to do such things, the people will resist us as well," said BNP electoral steering committee chairman Nazrul Islam Khan.

He was briefing reporters after a meeting between a BNP delegation and Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin in the city's Nirbachan Bhaban on Wednesday evening.
