Chattogram, April 19 -- Production at the country's lone state-owned diammonium phosphate (DAP) fertiliser factory in Anwara upazila of Chattogram has been suspended due to the shortage of ammonia, a key raw material.
Officials said the generation was halted around 8:00pm on Saturday.
Confirming the matter, Alamgir Jalil, manager and head of administration at DAP Fertilizer Company Limited (DAPFCL), said the shortage of ammonia has made it impossible to continue operations.
"We depend on ammonia supply from Chittagong Urea Fertilizer Limited (CUFL) and Karnaphuli Fertilizer Company Limited (KAFCO). Both factories are currently closed. Until they resume production and supply ammonia, we have no option but to keep DAPFCL closed," he said...
