Dhaka, Oct. 18 -- long Amar Ekushey Book Fair 2027, traditionally held in February to commemorate the language martyrs, will begin on January 7, marking a departure from its customary schedule.

The fair will run until February 6, according to a notice signed by Bangla Academy Director General Mohammad Azam on Sunday.

The decision was taken at an exchange of views with publishers' representatives on October 13 at Shaheed Munier Chowdhury conference room of Bangla Academy.

The meeting was chaired by Cultural Affairs Minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury. Prime Minister's Adviser on Cultural Affairs Dr Zahed Ur Rahman and secretary Yasmin Begum were also present.
