Dhaka, Sept. 3 -- Renowned actress Elina Shammi was seriously injured in a road accident while travelling on a battery-powered rickshaw (an e-rickshaw) in Dhaka on Wednesday evening.

The actress said she had gone out to buy some necessary items for a shoot when the accident occurred.

According to Shammi, the e-rickshaw was travelling at a high speed when it lost balance after a stone or brick-0like object fell under one of its narrow wheels.

She fell onto the road as the e-rickshaw overturned and landed on her.

Shammi sustained injuries to her head and forehead in the accident. Doctors later put a total of 15 stitches across two wounds.

She went to a hospital in traditional rickshaw after the accident.
