, June 28 -- A Tangail court on Sunday convicted eight people and sentenced them to life term imprisonment for killing a sexagenarian man in 2022.

Tangail Additional District and Session Judge Foysal Al Mamun handed down the punishment.

The lifers are-Dabir Uddin, 65 and his five sons-Rafik Mia, 45, Tofazzal Hossain, 35, Maidan Ali, 33, Hashem Ali, 42 and Abdur Rahman, 38, Shilpi Begum, 32, wife of Hashem Ali and Hazrat Ali, 50, son of Insad Ali of Sadar upazila. Among them Hashem Ali tried in absentia.
