Dhaka, Aug. 11 -- Four members of an organised robbery gang were arrested while allegedly preparing to rob a house near Hatirjheel in the capital on Tuesday, police said.

The arrestees were identified as Md Rakib, 32, Md Rashedul Howlader, 27, Md Zubayer Islam, 40, and Bijoy Sarker alias Defid, 27.

Police also recovered two foreign-made pistols, two magazines, five rounds of ammunition, a toy pistol, three machetes, five cocktails, a spike dagger and two identity cards of a film shooting unit from their possession.

DMP Additional Commissioner (Detective Branch) Shafiqul Islam disclosed the information at a briefing at the DMP Media Centre this afternoon.
