, Oct. 14 -- A mobile court on Monday fined four fishermen Tk 30,000 for illegally catching hilsa in the Jamuna River in violation of the government ban in Chauhali upazila of Sirajganj.

The fined fishermen were identified as Jakir Molla, 55, and Momin Molla, 22, of Umarpur village; Yamin, 20; and Shahabuddin, 45, of Dakkhin Jotpara village.

Acting on a tip-off, a team led by Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mostafizur Rahman conducted drives in Bridashuria, Poyla, Dattakandi, Umarpur, and Phulhara areas of the Jamuna River and detained the fishermen for defying the ban.
