Faridpur, Aug. 18 -- A Faridpur tribunal on Tuesday sentenced three men to life imprisonment for the gang rape of a Class-IX schoolgirl in Boalmari upazila in 2020.

Faridpur Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge Abul Bashar Mia handed down the verdict.

The convicts are Nasir Molla, 26, of Babukhali village in Mohammadpur upazila of Magura, Saikat Chandra, 26, of Lankar Char area in Boalmari, and another Nasir Molla, 36, of the same area.

The court also fined each of them Tk 1 lakh, in default of which they will have to serve an additional year in jail.

According to the prosecution, the victim, then a Class-IX student, had become acquainted with Nasir Molla, 26, through mobile phone.
