, Sept. 23 -- year-old madrasah student drowned on Tuesday in the Dharla river while visiting his grandfather's home in Madhyaislampur village of Patgram upazila, Lalmonirhat.

According to police and locals, Shahid had come to his grandfather's home two days ago to attend the wedding of his uncle Shyamal Hossain.

On the wedding day, his father, Faizur Rahman, and mother also came from Dhaka.

Around 3 pm, Faizur, his brother-in-law and another teenaged boy, along with Shahid, went to the river to bathe.

Shahid and the other teenaged boy, who could not swim, fell into a deep hole and began to sink.
