, Sept. 14 -- A suspected thief was reportedly beaten to death at Motobi in Sadar upazila of Feni district on Saturday night.

The deceased was identified as Mansur Ahmed, 40, son of Sultan Ahmed of Kazir Ghatla village in Companyganj upazila of Noakhali district.

Quoting local people, Inspector of Feni Model Police Station, Sajal Kanti, said local people caught Mansur from the CNG garage of one Kabir and beat him up mercilessly suspecting him as a thief on Saturday night.

Later, they dumped the body in a field adjacent to the garage.

On information, police recovered the body on Sunday morning and sent it to Feni General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
