India, Oct. 16 -- Indian travellers visiting Japan may soon be able to make payments at select merchants using their Unified Payments Interface (UPI) apps. The move aims to simplify financial transactions for Indian visitors. NPCI International Payments Limited (NIPL), the international arm of the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), has signed an MoU with NTT DATA Japan, a subsidiary of the NTT DATA Group.

As part of this collaboration, merchants acquired by NTT DATA are expected to begin accepting UPI payments in the future.
