India, Jan. 15 -- For more than a century, Worth Avenue has reigned as the nucleus of high-end style in Palm Beach, Florida-and it just got better.

On par with New York's Fifth Avenue or Avenue Montaigne in Paris, Worth is an elegant street where well-heeled residents and visitors in town for "the season," from November through April, head to for premier shopping.

A few historic standouts include Cartier, which opened in 1924 as the second U.S. location following its New York shop; jeweller Van Cleef & Arpels' cozy Palm Beach location that debuted in 1940; and Gucci, which arrived on Worth at the height of its jet-set glamour in the 1960s.
