India, Nov. 2 -- A solar plant earns money only when it is producing power, so the real work starts after commissioning. Panels need cleaning, inverters need servicing, and output has to be monitored and kept available for the grid. Independent power producers increasingly hand this work to specialists. As the installed base ages and grows, operations and maintenance (O&M) becomes steady, recurring work, a useful counterweight to the lumpy nature of building projects.
