India, July 27 -- Constant rainfall due to the monsoon season has resulted in massive floods in the southern and central parts of Gujarat due to the heavy rainfall witnessed over three consecutive days. In addition, the incessant downpour led to overflowing of major rivers and flooding of low-lying areas, with closure of many roads.
In efforts to counter the situation, a joint force of disaster management officials has been formed, comprising the military, the NDRF, SDRF, and Coast Guard units. Rescue missions have seen over 40,500 people being evacuated to safer places, and more than 6,300 people saved from drowning zones.
