India, March 31 -- Airtel, one of India's biggest telecom companies, just announced a major move: it is bringing in $1 billion into its data centre subsidiary, Nxtra Data Ltd. This money is coming from three big investors: Alpha Wave Global, Carlyle, and Anchorage Capital. Airtel itself will also put in some money alongside them.

The breakdown is straightforward. Alpha Wave Global is the biggest backer at $435 million. Carlyle is putting in $240 million, and Anchorage Capital is contributing $35 million. The remaining amount will be paid by Airtel itself. Even after this deal, Airtel will keep a controlling stake in Nxtra, meaning it will still be in charge.
