India, June 10 -- "Rs 370 biryani" controversy rages online. Zomato has firmly denied any link to a viral screenshot that appeared to show an inappropriate notification from its app. The food delivery giant posted that the notification screenshot that trended on social media was fake and not sent from Zomato. It also posted a black graphic with the text: "Biryani is dinner, not consent," in a LinkedIn post to explain why.

The controversy began after a crowd-work segment from a stand-up show by Pranit More went viral. In the clip, an audience member recounted a date involving a Rs 370 chicken biryani and suggested that spending money on a meal entitled him to expectations from the woman.
