India, May 17 -- Chelsea are set for a revamp following a shattering defeat to Manchester City in the FA Cup final, which puts their European dreams in question. A day after the Wembley heartbreak, the Blues have announced the appointment of Xabi Alonso as the new Chelsea manager. The former Real Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen manager has succeeded interim coach Calum McFarlane, who had been at the helm since the sacking of Liam Rosenior.

After a disappointing 2025-26 campaign, the Chelsea hierarchy will look to remodel the internal structure, with Alonso at the helm. Some big-name transfers are also expected in June.
