India, Aug. 16 -- Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta called for a broader and more sustained effort to create opportunities for women, saying India's development journey cannot reach its full potential if a large section of its population remains confined to traditional roles. Addressing the We Women Want Conclave, organised by NewsX and The Sunday Guardian Foundation in Delhi, Gupta said conversations around women should move beyond celebrating their achievements and focus equally on their health, dignity, aspirations, economic participation and freedom to make choices. Describing the conclave as a platform to look ahead, Gupta urged women to recognise their own journeys and devote greater attention to their personal goals.
